Callum Peters is the designer behind Yummy Custard, based near Chester and Liverpool in the North West of England. He studies Graphic Design at the University of Chester, designing as Yummy Custard in his spare time. He offers design for print, brand identity, logo design, packaging design and soon, digital design. He recently worked as a creative intern at digital design agency AKQA in London.
Finished • Here’s my album artwork in its finished state. Eco-friendly design, hopefully building on the mood created by Sade’s music. Hand-cut. The three main colours of red, yellow and blue are repeated throughout the product - front cover, back cover, and inside (red lyrics booklet, blue/yellow disc). Typography is Sansumi throughout, set in red, yellow and blue against the deep black background.

The Ship of Fools | My latest product is a pop-up book for not-so-well-known fairytale The Ship of Fools. Just one spread, opening 180° and featuring some interactive elements such as a ‘fool’ that pops out of a porthole, a moving shark and a fairly large clownfish that bears some similarity to Nemo! Having been inspired by the work of design studio Crayon Fire, I chose my colours carefully for a bright, jolly yet modern-meets-vintage style. The scene I have chosen sees Ben (the captain at the front of the boat) trying to calm the fools and attempting to get them below deck as a storm is brewing! It measures 35x40cm approximately and fastens with velcro. This was a very challenging brief, but I enjoyed flicking through the pop-up books of yesteryear!

I’m Lovin’ It | Obviously this is a beverage from McDonald’s! And obviously I went there today. How very healthy of me! I used the Hipstamatic iPhone Camera app for this… it’s amazing how an object as ordinary as a McDonald’s coke can take on such a different feel when snapped with this app. I love it. More to come.

Crossing on the Stairs | The famous steps at Liverpool One, taken with my iPhone camera, which surprised me on Tuesday I must say! Loving the colours - essentially it’s made up of lots of clear panels of glass, eventually creating a green tint.
